Tim Ketcham Review

Published on May 25, 2018

NACA report 354 gives test results

for aircraft wood. It's results show

that White Ash is superior to Sitka

for aircraft structures. According to

my many comparative tests I

believe they underestimate the

superiority of ash to sitka.

The Sitka Spruce used in these

tests is the highest grade/

highest specific gravity, and

strongest that I've found. Yet

the ash is significantly stronger.

Even the Ash with the sloped

grain was much stronger than

the Sitka spruce.
